Friday 5

Cory started something last month that's been pretty fun - the Friday 5. He solicits questions every week and answers his favorite five on Fridays (as long as people submit questions and he doesn't get bored...). He's taken it upon himself to get me (and Anna) started with the Friday 5. Personally, I think it's a veiled attempt from him for me to keep the blog updated a little more regularly, but don't tell him I said that. ;)

Feel free to submit your questions for Anna, me and Arron!

Here we go!!

foie gras is no longer illegal in chicago. has Anna had some yet? if so, on a scale of 1-ecstasy, how good was it? if not, when do you think you'll treat Anna to some? Yes, Foie Gras is no longer illegal for restaurants to sell in the fine city of Chicago. However, Anna has yet to try some. Until it is served at restaurants that you have to look up to read the menu, it's doubtful that she'll try it any time soon.

does Anna's rickshaw have safety features? because it looks like death on wheels, literally. Of course it has safety features! It has a roll bar in case it tumbles, and there's even an extra support bar running from the front to back (something we didn't see in lesser rickshaws). It has a 5-point harness to keep her securely in her seat. There are reflectors and reflective material throughout and if we choose, we could buy a flashing light for the back to look more like the Amish. The bar that connects to the bike has a rotating hinge so should the bike go down, the chances of the trailer flipping are greatly diminished. Also, every joint on the bar not only has a spring loaded pin connection, but there is also tether with a dog leash style hook, just in case the pin connection fails. There are also wheel guards (we had to order these separately; they had not arrived in time fo the maiden voyage) so if we get too close to large branches, small children or dumb dogs, they will be pushed out of the way instead of the rickshaw running them over.

let's think about careers: name two jobs you don't want Anna to do. name two that you would prefer she not do, but if she did, you'd get over it in 3-5 years. Ummm, I'd prefer she not be a stripper or prostitute. What I'd get over in 3-5 years - teacher and banker. I'm all too familiar with the seedy underbelly in the teaching and banking industries.

have you taught Anna the 99 bottles of beer song yet? why or why not? No, we haven't sung that yet. Honestly, we haven't because I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the reminder.

do you think it's okay to keep secrets from those you love? Dude, seriously? What kind of question is this?!? I don't know what Christmas and birthdays were like in your house growing up, but in my house, secrets were kept. Of course secrets are okay! It's what makes things fun!

So there it is! Feel free to submit your own questions; and while you're at it, wander over to Cory's blog and leave some questions for him. I'm sure he'll appreciate it!

  2. from Deanne: There is a great song based on the melody to "99 bottles" that you'll learn when Anna is about 6 or 7. I can't think of exactly how it goes, but it's something like "the endless song that everybody hates" except it fits with that melody.
